The profession of nursing is in danger as we face a decrease in doctorally-prepared nursing faculty. Although this bodes for a promising future to those who wish to pursue faculty and research positions in nursing, this was not my reason for following the path toward a PhD. Rather, I became fascinated with the concept of evidence-based practice (EBP); using research to discover best practice for nursing interventions.
